Birth Doula


WHAT IS IT
? A Birth Doula supports and encourages self-confidence in the woman and family during and after birth. Birth Doulas are there to help you to prepare for your child’s birth and to assist during and after birth. They offer emotional, spiritual and physical support. Birth doula are normally not medically trained, and this is what distinguishes them from midwives. Birth doulas have a special set of skills and are in high demand.

WHAT DO THEY DO? A Birth Doula offers support to your partner and family during this time and can help you navigate the health care system. A Birth Doula can offer support during and after the pregnancy with breast feeding, pain relief and taking care of your newborn. Giving birth can sometimes be a lonely experience, and having that extra support can take away the feelings of loneliness.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? Some of the benefits Birth Doulas offer are emotional support, family support, breathing techniques, relief by massage, encouragement and reassurance.
