WHAT IS IT? Our ancestors gathered around a fire in a circle. Families gather in a circle around the kitchen table, and we gather in a circle as a community, so that we can solve problems, support one another and connect to one another.
Circle draws on the ancient Native American tradition of using a talking piece, an object passed from person to person in a group, granting the holder sole permission to speak.
WHAT DOES IT DO? In Circle all persons are equal. Circle symbolises shared leadership, equality, connection and inclusion. It promotes focus, accountability and participation by all.
Circle uses structure to create possibilities for freedom: freedom to speak our truth, drop masks and protections, be present as a whole human being, reveal our deepest longings, and act in accordance with our core values.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? Storytelling is critical to the creation of community, connection and collective action. Circle can help people suffering from fear and anger issues, eating disorders, emotional blockages, anxiety, grief, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, stress and trauma.
