Associate Professor Dean White is a renowned plastic surgeon who specialises in breast reduction, breast lift (mastopexy), breast reconstruction, breast augmentation, breast implant removal, breast implant-associated ALCL, post-weight-loss surgery, abdominoplasty, body lifts, upper arm reduction, thigh reduction, liposuction, face and neck lifts, blepharoplasty, and reconstructive surgery in Melbourne.
In 2006, A/Prof White commenced his role as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he managed complex head and neck cancer reconstructions and major trauma cases as part of the state trauma centre. Concurrently, he practised at Box Hill, Dandenong, Geelong, and Maroondah Hospitals, undertaking a wide range of procedures including hand surgery, breast surgery, and skin cancer management. He served as the Supervisor of Plastic Surgical Training at Box Hill Hospital and contributed to the Skin and Cancer Foundation in Carlton, performing intricate reconstructions for skin cancer cases following MOHS surgery in collaboration with specialist dermatologists.
In 2008, A/Prof White undertook advanced postgraduate training in aesthetic and cosmetic surgery in London’s Harley Street Medical District, working alongside leading plastic surgeons in the United Kingdom. He was awarded the prestigious Mentor Aesthetic Fellowship to train under Mr Barry Jones, an internationally recognised authority in facial aesthetic surgery. He also completed the renowned Cosmetic Surgery Courses in Dallas, Texas, USA. This extensive international experience provided valuable exposure to diverse surgical philosophies and techniques, which he subsequently refined and integrated into his own practice within the Australian context.
Upon returning to Australia in late 2009, A/Prof White resumed public hospital appointments at the Royal Melbourne and Box Hill Hospitals and re-established his private practice, in addition to his ongoing clinical work at the Skin and Cancer Foundation. In April 2012, he was appointed Clinical Director of the Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery Unit for the Eastern Health Network, encompassing Box Hill, Maroondah, Yarra Ranges, and the Angliss Hospitals.
In 2015, he was appointed the inaugural Director of the Head and Neck Clinical Institute at Epworth Healthcare, overseeing the disciplines of Plastic Surgery, ENT Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dermatology, and Ophthalmology, a role he held until 2021. That same year, he was appointed Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne Medical School, where he is actively involved in medical education and clinical supervision. He also holds the position of Adjunct Senior Lecturer with Monash University’s School of Medicine, contributing to the training of junior medical staff, nursing personnel, and plastic surgery trainees across both public and private sectors.
A/Prof White has participated in international medical aid through Interplast, providing reconstructive surgical services and clinical education in developing countries, including Papua New Guinea and Bangladesh.
